Pride parade for the LGBT community
LGBT is the abbreviation of "lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender".
The Pride parade is a procession of the members of the LGBT community. In the mean time, it is a demonstration for the equal rights and the same-sex marriage.
The ‘Trevor Project’ and the ‘It Gets Better Project’ are both organizations focused on suicide prevention among LGBT youth.
The former was found in 1998 by James Lecesne, Peggy Rajski, and Randy Stone. The name ‘Trevor’ comes from their short movie, called… well, ‘Trevor’, about a young boy who gets rejected by his friends because of his sexuality. The organization has a free phone number, called ‘The Trevor Lifeline’, which providies trained counselors for hopeless bullied kids. It also provides guidance with parents and teachers in order to develop a safer and more accepting enviroment for kids at home and at school.
The latter is a YouTube-based project, helping the work of the Trevor Project, started by a journalist, Dan Savage, and his husband. The main point of it is that anyone can upload their videos encouraging bullied young people to go on with their lives and be strong, because, eventually, it does get better. There are over 30,000 contributions to date, including many famous people, for example President Barack Obama, singer Chester Bennington, and HIMYM star Neil Patrick Harris.
